Karrie Schultz, MSW, is the Founder and Career Consultant at Guiding Light Careers, where she is committed to helping individuals move forward in their careers with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

With over 13 years of experience at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Karrie most recently served as Assistant Director of Career Development. In this role, she supported a wide range of students and professionals across industries including business, public health, social work, government, and nonprofit organizations. The individuals she worked with secured internships, fellowships, and full-time roles both nationally and internationally. Throughout her career in higher education and career development, Karrie has built strong relationships with hundreds of employers and organizational leaders. This extensive network, along with her deep understanding of evolving workforce needs, allows her to provide relevant, strategic, and informed guidance to those she serves.

Karrie is known for her approachable, client-centered coaching style and takes pride in the positive, lasting impact she creates for those she works with. Her passion for career development extends well beyond individual coaching. She is an active member of the Michigan Career Development Association (MiCDA), the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers (MWACE). She has also contributed to the Career Leadership Collective and the University of Michigan’s Career Services Network (CSN), where she served as Co-Lead for the International Student Support Subcommittee.

In April 2026, Karrie was recognized and featured by Influential Womenas a one of today’s most inspiring and accomplished professional women for her work in higher education and the launch of Guiding Light Careers.

Karrie holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Advertising from Oakland University. As a lifelong learner, she is continually seeking opportunities to grow, evolve, and bring new insights into her work.

Karrie resides in Canton, Michigan, with her husband and their rescue cat, Dahlia. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, traveling, and watching movies.
